It’s 2:49 a.m. here in chilly Moorhead, MN and I am waiting for the second book in my Legends of Light series to go live on Amazon. That’s so awesome to type. Seriously.

For those of you that were able to attend my Author Talk at my home town library on May 5th, you understand how awesome it is. I spoke about self-publishing and how the only thing you really need to publish your work is complete determination and desire.

The desire is still there for me. It’s real, tangible. I’m clicking my nails on my desk right now staring at my Amazon listing like….come oooooon, I want to share this with the world!

I haven’t gotten much sleep in the last couple weeks getting this second book ready for publication. I agonized over layout for the hard copy, which is currently resting in the capable hands of my amazing cover designer, Robin Ludwig Design. I anticipate that the hard copy will be available about a week after the E-book.  The E-book this time around I think, is much better. I figured out a bit more coding, yeah, I know, right? Coding. So, the layout is more pleasing to me, at least.

Oathbreaker will take us back in time and follow the beginning of the most important relationship in the Known World, namely Lasher and Shyla, those two we met in Lightbringer. They will become pivotal characters in the books to come.

This second book is much darker too, not because of anything to do with me, but everything to do with the culture that these characters come from, and as with all excellent world building, one must stay true to the culture.  I’m much more of a rainbows and unicorns kind of girl, but Lasher and Shyla? Not so much.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out Book 1, Lightbringer, find it here.

I strongly encourage you to also sign up for my mailing list as I will begin to release exclusive mini stories connected to this series for those VIP subscribers. Cool, right? I got some pretty exciting feedback from readers. Seems like mini stories is a great idea.

Now I just have to think about what I want to start with, but I’ll figure out.

This is all so exciting. It’s 3:03 a.m. in the morning, and I’m doing exactly what I love to do: write and share stories.

I’ll be posting like crazy letting you all know when Book 2 is live. Remember, VIPs get the heads up first, the freshest copies, just sayin’.

Thanks for all the support, and here’s to Oathbreaker!

Oathbreaker - K. M. Kaufman

Katie lives in Moorhead, MN with her husband, one cat and best dog, Howard. Her cat, after four years, has still not forgiven her for getting a dog, but such is a cat’s life. Dogs are crosses they must bear. Katie grew up on a dairy farm in rural Minnesota where the wheat and barley fields rolled in the summer wind like ocean waves, and where the snow storms wailed like banshees in the winter. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing, with a Minor in History from Minnesota State University of Moorhead, then she quickly learned how to answer a phone politely and how to document process so she could eat. She loves watching Netflix, knitting, crocheting, spinning, felting slippers, and wishes she had sheep…or Angora rabbits. Just one Angora rabbit. She would name that rabbit Sir Floofer Flops the III, because surely, he would come from a very old dignified family. Katie enjoys listening to Audible and teaching herself new languages. In the summer, she attempts to, and would like to believe she succeeds at, keeping all the plants in her garden alive, possibly with the help of foreign swear words — what the neighbors can’t understand, won’t hurt them.
